Goals

New multimedia technologies and applications heavily rely on research in computer vision and image analysis. Economical reasons require the use of low-cost, off-the-shelf acquisition hardware (webcam), while the perspective of being employed as the main user interface (in cooperation with speech-based technology) for the new wearable computers impose serious energy consumption constraints. We consider of main relevance the creation of a laboratory aimed at research, development and knowledge dissemination in the fields of computer vision and image analysis.
