Eyeserver
Some devices, as the Sony PSP, support a USB port, but without host capabilities.
So, the direct connection of a standard webcam to the device is impossible. The limitation is in the hardware, so that the software can't bypass it in any way.
The PSP can connect a webcam, called GoCam, direct to its port: but in this case, the camera is the host and PSP is the client. This architecture, designed specifically by Sony, makes impossible to connect GoCam to normal PC.
So, GoCam isn't a standard PC webcam. In applications of artificial vision, it is often useful to use a standard PC webcam, with features specifically choosen for user's needs.
But this is impossible on PSP: the standard PC webcams aren't supported.
Nanodesktop attempts to go around this trouble, using Eyeserver/Eyeclient architecture.

Eyeserver can run on different platforms: the source code is available, and you can recompile it to work on a standard PC with Microsoft Windows, on a system "Linux on a chip", or on a custom microprocessor (like board ARM).
This is the list of the platforms actually supported. We hope that this list can increase its length in a short time. If you can download Eyeserver, and you can recompile it to work on another platform, we will be glad if you can share your code with us. So, we will be able to collect on this page all versions of Eyeserver that are available.
